Our plastic spur gears and racks are an industry standard with 20° pressure angle gears, which have thicker teeth than 14½° pressure angle gears. Made of durable plastic, they run quieter than metal gears and have good resistance to corrosion and chemicals. Choose from acetal or nylon gears and gear racks for your light duty machines or prototyping needs. Made of lightweight plastic, they are quieter and more resistant to corrosion and chemicals than metal gears. They can be combined with different numbers of teeth to change speed and torque in your assembly, or with a gear rack to convert rotary motion into linear motion. To ensure that the gears and racks mesh correctly, they must have the same pressure angle and pitch/module. We offer both acetal and nylon gears and gear racks, with acetal being more suited for use in light duty machines or for prototyping due to their resistance to dimensional changes, while nylon gears can be operated without lubrication, making them ideal for use in food-processing machines. Additionally, our acetal gear racks absorb less water than nylon racks, making them less likely to swell.
