These bearings don't need to be perfectly aligned because they can rotate to correct for up to a 5° shaft misalignment. In a tube or housing, the flange ensures appropriate placement.
Compared to shielded and sealed bearings, open bearings are more effective at dissipating heat.
Although shielded bearings keep out dust and other impurities, they are less effective at dissipating heat than open bearings.

Compared to steel bearings, stainless steel bearings are more corrosion resistant.
